It’s a campaign to shine a spotlight on the unacceptable normalisation of abusive language and behaviour directed towards women every day
We invite you to ask yourself, have you ever…
- sat around a table with friends at work or been on a night out when someone passed a sexist comment about a colleague or a member of staff? …and you stayed silent?
- had to sit & listen to sexist banter & jokes and you gave that nervous laugh? …but stayed silent?
- received an inappropriate comment in your group chat or received an unsolicited explicit image. While you didn’t respond to the text by liking it or forwarding it, you still stayed silent?
- seen someone being groped and wished you had the courage to “Do something” but didn’t know what to do?
You’re not the only one who has stayed silent.
We all have!!
And now, each of us has an opportunity to react differently the next time one of these examples present themselves. Check out the options on our website chooserespect.ie
It will be a challenge at first but you can take courage from the fact that the whole Nenagh community is fully supportive of the initiative – in secondary schools, leading sports clubs & over 100 workplaces.
It only takes one individual to stand up and “CALL IT OUT” – Could that person be you?
“It’s not the words of your enemies that hurt the most. It’s the silence of your friends”
— Martin Luther King Jnr
